A Vast and Fiendish Plot - Copper Season 1 Episode 10 FINALE

*This review contains spoilers.*

Aaaaah, I'm so excited for the last episode of this season! Woooo!

  • I can't wait to see who was knocking last episode...
  • Oh, I see...oh, dear...the Confederates are trying to burn the city again? I'm still not positive I understand Robert's motivations in this...
  • And Corky, you really think you can trust Eva?
  • Oh, damn, Kennedy is good.
  • Annie, you stupid bitch. Oh, thank you Eva, for calling Annie out on her bullshit.
  • Oh, damn, Elizabeth is still hanging with the Booths...damn, Elizabeth, you are a badass.
  • Aw, I hope they don't kill all the Confederates...some of them seemed really young.
  • Oh, damn, how are they going to find the guy making the Greek fire?
  • The interactions with Eva, Annie, and Ellen are something...all the women of Corky, haha.
  • Oh, come on, Sarah, you'll be alright...
  • Wait, wait, Sarah's mother was left behind? Where? Were they slaves who were able to escape or something? Uh-oh...what if something happens to her?
  • Oh, damn, Kennedy has the stuff!
  • Oh, the telegraph guy knows! Damn, Corky, stop it! Thank you, Robert.
  • Damn, Sarah, miracle cures are probably not a good idea.
  • Oh, shit, here's his father! And Kennedy! Oh, I love Robert's interactions with his father.
  • Oh, damn, Sarah, that is not a good idea.
  • It's weird how nice Eva is being to Ellen.
  • Nice look at 19th century fashion. I really love  Elizabeth's style.
  • Oh, damn, they have a horrible father/son relationship...uh-oh, I think Elizabeth going over there is very bad idea.
  • Uh-oh, Sarah better not be unconscious with this miracle cure stuff...oh, damn, there she is.
  • Oh, shit, there's Maguire! Can I just say, what an eventful finale!
  • Yay, Shakespeare! Wooo!
  • Uh-oh, fire!
  • ...Julius Caesar...oh, how fitting is this monologue? I love you, Copper. I love you, BBC America, I love you for saving me from my melancholia, and being badass and cerebral.
  • Wait, wait, who is lying on the floor in there? Oh, damn, it's Maguire? And Kevin rescued him? Kevin, you're a better man than I thought you were.
  • Oh, damn, Elizabeth, you are way more into this than I thought you were...I really, really love Anastasia Griffith.
  • What a power shift between Robert and his father...sending him to Atlanta? Oh, damn...Robert, you are cold!
  • Oh, thank God, Sarah's coming around!
  • Oh, damn, Matthew...
  • Aw, this is a very sweet hug between Elizabeth and Robert.
  • Oh, damn, Maguire doesn't look very good...holy shit, he killed Grendel? And Mary?
  • Eva is so blunt about her whore-iness. And she doesn't seem upset that her and Corky seem to be over.
  • Oh, Kevin, talk to your wife, please?
  • Kevin, what are you taking there? Is that what Ellen was on? Are you on opium? Really? Oh, God, he's hallucinating Maggie again! Poor Kevin!
Oh, wow, what a finale! I loved it! And it's coming back summer of 2013! Great finale! I loved Elizabeth/Robert this episode, as well as both of them in their own rights...I also liked Kevin and the whole action packed plot aspect.

I highly recommend this episode and the show itself.

A Day to Give Thanks - Copper Season 1 Episode 9

*This review contains spoilers.*

Sorry I'm a little distracted tonight, my roommate just created life in our microwave.

Consequently, having just witnessed the birth of a species, I'm in an excellent mood and I am exceedingly excited to see how the whole Ellen thing plays out!

  • Yes, Irish ballads! I love this! So freaking much!
  • Starting off with Ellen, I like...
  • Annie, Lord almighty, shut up for once!
  • Eva, are you hitting on him now? Thank you, Corky, for saying your wife is at home. Finally.
  • I am not sure I know where Robert is going with this...
  • This is surprisingly eloquent and emotional for Eva...and then the Molly reference...God, what is Eva's deal?
  • JOHN WILKES BOOTH? That's a thing?! Whoa! Oooooooh! He is so hitting on her! Is that jealousy I see, Robert?
  • Holy shit, Corky, violence! Are you manhandling your captain? Damn...oh, Kevin, why do I keep loving you?
  • Uh-oh...what is going on with Mr. Morehouse...
  • Annie praying for Corky's wife? Interesting.
  • Meeting Mr. Kennedy? Robert's father is smuggling to the Confederates? Damn!
  • Whoa, whoa, Ellen's talking! "A locket for a life"? She did need an abortion? Oh, damn....
  • Corky...do you really want to leave your wife, your whore, and the little girl in love with you in the same house together?
  • Oh dear, Morehouse men fighting...
  • Uh-oh, Ellen, darling, go back to bed before Eva kills you and you realize that the girl you think is your daughter wants to sleep with your husband. Ellen, that broth is probably poisoned!
  • Whoa, whoa, Robert v. Kennedy. Wow, is Robert really trying to protect his father, or keep the Confederates from succeeding?
  • Oh dear, Kevin, what are you up to? Maguire paid off the pawn shop owner...oh, my...
  • Are Robert and Elizabeth going to get it on again? And he asks about Kevin now? What is with that giant bow on Elizabeth's dress? Yay, Robert/Elizabeth.
  • Oh, Kevin, don't kill Father Brook!
  • Oh, Kevin, what are you going to do? This is like the calm before the storm...and the storm just broke! Holy fuck, Maguire slept with Kevin's wife!!!!!!! Thank you, for finally pointing out the whole fucking Eva while looking for Ellen thing...
  • Oh, fuck....ELLEN KILLED MAGGIE? No, she wouldn't....Oh, Kevin, don't treat her like this, she's ill. ...She accidentally knocked her into a doorframe? Okay... Aw, this is a very emotional moment. Oh, Kevin, don't push her...uncalled for!
  • Knocking? Oh, Lord, who is that?
Epic episode, I highly recommend it!

Thanks for reading!

Better Times Are Coming - Copper Season 1 Episode 8

*This review contains spoilers.*

I am so excited to see the fallout of Corky and Elizabeth as well as Robert and the Conderate's Greek fire plan....here it comes!

  • Still one of my favorite title sequences since Shotime's The Borgias...it's just so cool and so fitting and I revel in it.
  • Ah, election day! I look forward to more history! Yay, more Irish ballads...love it.
  • Aw, yay! I love Elizabeth and Robert...this is just darling and the sweetest thing ever! Yay! I am one hundred thousand percent behind this.
  • Whoa, whoa, don't even think about accusing Robert!
  • Ah, yes, I love that Sarah and Matthew are having a baby! Aw, so cute!
  • Oh, damn, Mary's dead! Whoa, whoa, whoa!
  • Oh, God, Annie, stop it you little slut! Eva, couldn't you have killed this little trollop instead of Molly?
  • Oh, dear, I think Francis may be a bit off his rocker about this...
  • I very much like Robert's upbraiding of Kevin on behalf of Elizabeth...very, very much...I hope he really cares for her...oh, I feel like their bromance is seriously ending here. Ooooh, that was cold.
  • Ah, yes, more 19th century forensics! Wooo!
  • Oh, damn, Francis, what are you going to do to MacLean's wife?
  • Damn, Kevin's just fighting with everyone today!
  • Holy shit, Francis just...whoa! DAMN!
  • I really, really love the commercial for visiting Australia they've been playing lately (10:27 PM East Coast)...if I wasn't in love with Australia before, I would be now!
  • I kind of like Mrs. MacLean...snarky, in a way. Damn, that was a good ending line. "He was a man, angry to face who he really was."
  • Oh, Sibyl.
  • Yes, more Elizabeth and Robert...yay! Oh, Robert, what are you up to? Be careful with these people...
  • Poor Francis....whoa, Molly was scared of him? I mean, he was violent, but she struck me as the kind of feisty woman who could hold her own.
  • Yes, please give Annie to the nuns...for once I agree with Eva.
  • Oh, dear...Robert, please be careful.
  • Ah, Sarah seems not to be too depressed, for once.
  • Wait, wait, Kevin thinks Francis killed both Mary and MacLean? Holy shit...oh, man, were we supposed to have been thinking that the whole time?
  • Oh, shit! Well, at least he saved the horses! I like that in a man, that he worries about the horses...damn, that was a beautiful explosion.
  • Geez, the morning after in New York isn't pretty.
  • Oh, Lord have mercy, Annie is in Corky's wife's clothes. This has got to stop.
  • What the heck is Francis doing in the Earle House? Holy fuck, Corky what the hell are you doing?
  • MAGUIRE HAS A WIFE!!!!!!!!!!! In some of sort of asylum...oh, dear...wait, wait, how does Corky know Maguire's wife? Why would she know you, Kevin? Oh, God, is that? No, it couldn't be...it wouldn't be Ellen? Aw, God, he's being so adorable and sad right now...I can't handle it when men cry. Oh, dear God, it is Ellen! Aw, poor Corky, I'm sorry I ever hated you! This is just heartwrenching!
What an episode! Crazy, crazy revelations, awesome stuff! Watch it right now if you haven't!

Thanks for reading!

The Hudson River School - Copper Season 1 Episode 7

*This review contains spoilers.*

wel...

  • Oh, yes! Corky and Elizabeth! Wooooooooo! Oh, my God, that "confused" comment was so sexy! What a scene! Loved that!
  • Confederate spies? Ah, yes! I'm happy to see the war having more of an affect on our characters.
  • A French-Canadian who says "y'all'? That's interesting.
  • Oh, Frances is so cute with Mary, but what the hell is wrong with her? Oh, damn, her face! Oh, come on, Mary, don't be a bitch to Frances.
  • Uh-oh, Frances is pissed...
  • Oh, Corky, you are hilarious...I love you so much in this scene with the rosewater comment and the sit ups.
  • Uh-oh, is Sarah pregnant?
  • Whoa, this is creepy...poor Annie, even though I don't like her. Oh, whoa, hang on, did she just offer herself to him? What the hell? Oh, wait is she going to try to kill him by whacking him in the head with the skillet? That's what I picture. Oh, damn, she's doing it with farm tools!
  • I hope her return doesn't ruin Elizabeth and Corky's relationship! Oh, damn, there she goes!
  • Ah, she is pregnant! Aw, that's sweet!
  • And here comes Frances! He's probably going to tell her about the ledger...oh, yes, here he goes! Whoa, uh-oh, I fear for Mary's life right now!
  • Elizabeth confides in Robert? Interesting. "Like a mad dog"? Ouch.
  • Oh, no, she's at his house? Bad idea!
  • Oh, dear, poor Andrew.
  • Eva runs Madame Pompidou's place? Very interesting.
  • Uh-oh, I think Robert just caught Pascal in a lie...or is trying to...interesting.
  • And Kevin's taking care of the body for Annie....oh, damn, the pigs are going to eat that?! What the hell?!
  • Oh, dear, that cannot be good.
  • Oh, wow, this poor guy, but still, burning New  York? And, wait, McClellan was going to recognize the Confederacy? I missed that.
  • Oh, God, the Kevin/Elizabeth fallout. He did NOT just go for the art, that bastard! HOLY FUCK HE IS HOLDING A KNIFE TO ELIZABETH'S THROAT! WHAT THE FUCK IS YOUR PROBLEM KEVIN! Who pulls a knife on the woman they just had sex with?
  • And, of course, he seeks comfort with that Eva bitch. Oh, my God, what the hell is with these two and throat-slitting. Oh, Kevin, I cannot forgive you for this.
  • Ah, yes, poor Frances, how's he doing? Oh, naked and drunk, that's how. Oh, yes, he finally suspects Eva, perhaps? Oh, whoa, Mary went to England? With another man? Whoa, whoa, whoa.
  • Greek fire! YES!
  • Oh, dear, Kevin, bathing Annie like this could get weird...and putting her in your bed...and a kiss goodnight. Okay, that wasn't too bad.
  • Oh, man, Annie is going to watch Kevin and Eva? Kevin and Eva? Whoa, whoa, whoa!
  • Oh, I would love to see Robert and Elizabeth. Her dress is stunning right now, utterly stunning. Oh, I am sensing Robert/Elizabeth...please let there be Robert/Elizabeth. Oh, whoa, opium? Opium? Oh, he's promised to protect her from Kevin, that's good...
  • A kiss, even better! Oh, they're going for it! Yes! Just what this show needed!
Great episode, watch it episode!

Arsenic and Old Cake - Copper Season 1 Episode 6

*This review contains spoilers.*

I'm excited, and I hope this is good, because I turned off the Emmy's for this.

  • Whoa, whoa, what is this, opium? Oh, wait, it's ether...okay, dysfunctional dentist.
  • Come on, Corky, when are you going to realize Eva is a psycho bitch!
  • Damn, what a perv! Oh, what a pun! That's why I love British television, they don't do puns like that on American shows.
  • Whoa, whoa, what if the arsenic was in the old cake?
  • I hope Mrs. Haverford gets rid of Annie, she seems like such a bitch anymore.
  • I hope Jasper doesn't get himself hurt...
  • And Corky gloats over the corpse...I love him anyway.
  • God damn you, Annie! That bitch just shoved Elizabeth! Oh, send her to the convent or Blackwell's Island or something! I am in love with Elizabeth's dress, so beautiful.
  • Oh dear....I hope Jake and Jasper don't end up killing each other.
  • Oh, poor Mr. Morehouse, he has such Daddy issues in the disappointment department.
  • For some reason, I thought the acting in the scene with Mrs. O'Casey and kids was really, really good!
  • What the hell is wrong with you, Annie? For God's sake, I hope they get rid of her soon.
  • No, Kevin, don't eat the cake! Wow, he is such a good detective!
  • I can't wait for more mid-19th century forensics.
  • Oh, ouch, not that I liked Eva, but calling her out like that, especially when Kevin pretty much lives in the whorehouse himself is a bit over the top.
  • Haha, this dentist's wife is pretty funny! I love this woman...vulgar, but funny.
  • And of course everything just had to get sad...
  • Oh, whoa, how is the prize fight going. I don't want either of them seriously hurt, as that could lead to major rioting.
  • Haha, that was a nice, funny little scene with the baker in the midst of all the drama.
  • Oh, whoa, random guy creeping out of Mary's place...I feel like Frances has a proclivity for violence and jealousy, if that time he found out Molly had the locket is anything to go by.
  • Aw, poor Mrs. O'Casey can't write...
  • Oh, damn! It's him! No, that's too easy.
  • Okay, there's  no way this guy is the killer. I bet it's Hans the butcher. Oh, whoa, he's been fornicating with her? Okay, this whole fruit cake debacle is hilarious!
  • Forty-three rounds? Oh, wow! This can only end badly!
  • Annie's father! Part of me is sad, part of me is glad to see her go.
  • Oh, man, this fight! Poor Irish Jake McGuinness, he looks so out of it! Poor Jasper, he looks also pretty bad.
  • Wait, wait, they didn't take anybody in? Oh, my God, Devry poisoned himself! Haha, that is freaking hilarious!
  • Aw, poor Jasper. Wow, Mr. Morehouse is being really sweet right here.
  • Ah, yes, Elizabeth and Kevin! Uh-oh, if he finds out she sent Annie away with her father...Aw, this is kind of bittersweet. A nice emotional moment, anyway.
  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!! Kissing! Oh, damn, Kevin is taking Elizabeth against a wall! Damn, it is so hot when a guy gets aggressive like that.
Wow, that was an epic episode, go watch it right now if you haven't! I love this show, I love BBC America, I love Tom Weston-Jones...just AAAAAAH!

Thanks for reading!

La Tempete - Copper Season 1 Episode 5

*This review contains spoilers.*

I know, I know, ridiculously late, but we had a party in my room so I had to stay until it was over instead of leaving early for Copper review time.

Anyway, here is it:

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAH! This is my favorite show, excepting Doctor Who, of course, and I cannot wait!
  • Do we finally get to see boxing Corky? I hope so...not that I condone violence or anything, but, still, this is a hell of an exhilarating scene.
  • I hope they don't let Jasper get hurt...
  • Uh-oh, maybe we will see Corky fight...oh, damn, he is such a badass.
  • Ooooh, Elizabeth Haverford, you are also a badass.
  • And Annie paints her dolls to look like prostitutes....someone get that girl to a therapist.
  • Whoa, a Southern boy...
  • Whoa, what does Seamus have to do with the Morehouses...
  • Well, this is interesting...Maguire and Madame Grindel's sister...umm...Mary Lockwood was it? Aw, this is darling, I adore them! Oh, wow, she works fast.
  • Ah, ha, this is hilarious, Elizabeth sticking that in his mouth and such.
  • Oh, wow, Elizabeth Haverford, you are the most boss person in the entire world. Oh, wow and requesting Kevin...
  • Wow, they have a lot of gangs to deal with...Kevin has a really great plan.
  • Oh, wow...Maguire and Mary are moving fast...
  • Oooh, Ellen said he was like a carriage horse wearing blinders? Aw, poor Kevin, he doesn't need to hear that his wife said that about him.
  • I really don't trust this Marcus fellow...he's awful friendly with Sarah...oh, damn! Run, Sarah! Uh-oh, someone's not going to survive this...
  • Oh, wow, Elizabeth's dress is gorgeous! And Corky's face is seriously getting scruffy.
  • Jesus Christ, Annie! What the hell is the matter with you! Oh, my God!
  • Oh, for God's sake, Eva too?
  • Oh, Annie, why?! No! Bad! Oh, this is genuinely uncomfortable ... Come on Annie, don't fuck everything up!
  • Oh, I love Corky in this fish out of water situation! He is too adorable!
  • Oh, Eva, you slut...I hate her so much. Oh, don't follow her! Dumbass.
  • Uh-oh...okay, false alarm or decoy?
  • Oh, my God, wow, Elizabeth you are coming on strong...this is a nice moment thought. They are perfect for each other.
  • Aw, that was a cute Matthew and Sarah scene.
  • Oh, shit...here it goes! Oh, damn...wow, haha, it wasn't in there! Gang wars!
  • Oh, my, God, Sibyl is every bit the bitch I thought she'd be.
  • I like the Robert and Corky bromance...that's really sweet! Awww!
  • Well, that was a melancholy note to end on...
Okay, wow, that was a great episode. I am loving Corky/Elizabeth. That is the relationship archetype that I live for, man. I am also losing patience for Annie's antics, and I hope they send her to a nunnery or something. Kevin was so, so adorable and sexy this episode, just saying.

The Empty Locket - Copper Season 1 Episode 4

*This review contains spoilers.*

Ah, yes, I am beyond excited for this episode! Woooo! I love this show so much!

  • Oh, man, this title sequence never gets old.
  • I like that they just jump into the fight, no questions asked.
  • Whoa, whoa, Eva needs to back off of Molly here...oh, man...what is Eva up to?
  • Wow, Kevin just got a little violent there...that was intense.
  • Who is this jovial fellow in the purple suit? Ah, it's Marcus. Whoa, whoa, they can't all just run off to Liberia!
  • Annie did not just insult Twinings Earl Grey! I drink that all the time! Oh, come on, Annie! You get wealth and privilege and you don't want it?
  • What a fascinating conversation with Julia's sister.
  • Ooooh, that was a great scene with the Morehouses and the Reverend. I'm excited to see that play out.
  • Annie just looks darling...and who is this strange man? Oh, the guy designing Winfred's mausoleum...hmmm. Kevin looks really nice with his hair down and no hat. Ooooh, flirting over chess, I like it.
  • Ah, yes, more 19th century forensics! Wooo!
  • Wow, Corky is laying into Sullivan here...the whole Irish vs Anglo-Saxon Protestants thing is a nice avenue for more tensions and suspense. I like it a lot.
  • This is interesting, Robert Morehouse's father totally just threw the bishop under the bus.
  • Oh, Corky, you are so sly! Damn! I feel like he's putting on a thicker accent here, and it is so hot!
  • Uh-oh, Matthew, don't give in to what Marcus wants...
  • Wow, Maguire and Molly have a very tempestuous relationship.
  • God damn, Kevin is really going for it here. Why do I still love him despite this clear proclivity for excessive violence?
  • Oh, Annie, why are you saying these things?
  • So, they've already decided that Marcus's guy will lose?
  • Oh, Corky, subtlety is not one of your virtues.
  • Oh, whoa, damn, Julia's sister is a opportunistic bitch.
  • Oh, Captain, you hypocrite.
  • Oh, sweet moment with Maguire and Molly...oh, come on, Molly, you couldn't just like the bracelet? Really? He's trying to marry you (a freaking whore, by the way) and you have to complain?
  • This locket thing is very intriguing...okay, so Ellen didn't need an abortion? Oh, damn, Maguire paid him off!
  • Oh, damn, Eva, don't you cut that hair! OH, FUCK! Eva, you murderous bitch! Jesus Christ, how the hell that could happen! Oh, for fuck's sake!
  • Poor Francis! :( Oh, poor, Maguire. :(
  • Preview looks amazing!
Best show ever!!!! Watch it!

In the Hands of an Angry God - Copper Season 1 Episode 3

*This review contains spoilers.*

Sorry this is late, I'm at college and I like literally am constantly doing stuff, whether it be actually doing homework (unlikely) or hanging out (very likely).

Whatever, anyway, I'm so excited, aaaaah!

  • I will never get tired of television's most amazing title sequence.
  • Whoa, Corky cleans up nice! Super sexy in a suit! Aw, Annie is going to be a proper lady.
  • And a hint of Corky/Elizabeth Haverford? YES! Oh, this is utter perfection!
  • Aw, poor little kids...I hope nothing bad happens to the orphanage. Oh, of course, dumbasses with torches, just what the world needs. -_-
  • Ooooooh, Eva is so jealous. Again, Corky has so many women on a string here.
  • Oh, shit....is that dude dead? Oh, yep, poor Dermot! Oh, no, he was the guy from last night...oh, man,  there is going to be some sort of explosion of racial violence...I hope those orphanage children don't get hurt.
  • Oh, a sweet moment with Sarah and Matthew! Yay! This is so lovely, and very well acted! Now, Sarah, don't be a bitch to Kevin...
  • Oh, yes, I LOVE these mid-nineteenth century forensic scenes. That is literally the coolest thing ever.
  • Oh, damn, that was literally the greatest scene ever. "The Irish hold no patent on a brooding heart." That was so freaking epic...this is why I watch British television, you just don't get that in American TV...aw, man, I'm like giddy over here. Roomie officially thinks I've lost it. But, God damn, that was a magnificent scene!
  • Locket? The locket? Was that the locket?
  • Damn, Dermot's daughter is ... um ... intense, to put it in a overly kind manner. Great actress, by the way.
  • Uh-oh, Eva you better not hide the locket from Kevin...
  • Oh, shit! Garland really did do it! I totally thought he was framed or something, he seemed like a nice guy. Oh, wait, not human blood? Okay...I really have no idea whether or not Garland did it.
  • I feel bad with the whole Maguire/Molly thing...he's so sweet with her, and I feel like she doesn't reciprocate.
  • Ah, yes, Elizabeth again. That was cute..and the whole painting thing...aw, she believes Garland is innocent! Oh, this music is great! And Tom Weston-Jones is so beautiful. Really, Annie? Damn!
  • The plot thickens...
  • Wow, Dermot's friend, you are an idiot. Wait, what did Dermot do? Still, Kevin is a kickass detective.
  • Oh, these two women with Elizabeth are total bitches. Come on, Elizabeth, be the badass I know you to be...oooooh, that was high class badassery, I love it.
  • Oh, okay, so Bessie did it? Or this Jasper fellow? Oh, man, oh, man...Bessie! Damn! Stringing him up for kicks? That is cold.
  • Oh, poor Corky, I don't know why I feel bad you miss your wife when you are simultaneously in bed with the madame of a brothel.
  • Whoa, whoa, you're letting Bessie get away with murder? Over the money for a suit? I mean, I like the way that Kaleigh and Jerry are getting a happy ending and that Garland didn't swing, but I am pissed as hell that Bessie the murderess got away scot free. Am I the only one upset about that? Please comment below.
  • Kevin looks super hot with his shirt unbuttoned but his scarf still done up. YES! I love that they just had a cheek kiss. Wooo!
Yay, Sarah doesn't have to be a bitch anymore. Woo!
  • Ah, yes, who is this Madame Grindel (spelling?)...oh, shit! Wait, what service? Is she a prostitute? Oh, no, an abortionist. Eva, you lying bitch! Come on, now!
  • Oh, my God, Annie what the hell are you doing? That was creepy and weird and not cool.
Ah, yes, that was an amazing episode! I love that we saw further development of Elizabeth/Kevin, because I live for boy-from-the-wrong-side-of-the-tracks romances, but I was literally furious over Bessie getting away with murder over the price of a suit. Yeah, Dermot was an asshole, but did she have to stab him with a knitting needle? I was happy with the good resolution for Kaleigh and Jerry, and Sarah finally having some joy in her life. The Annie thing was creepy, just saying.

Finally, and as always, Tom Weston-Jones is beautiful and soulful and epic and passionate and I love him and he is beautiful and gorgeous and sexy.

That is all.

Thank you for reading!

Husbands and Fathers - Copper Season 1 Episode 2

*This review contains spoilers.*

Wooooo! It's finally here! This past week I moved into college, and BBC America's Copper has still been the focus of my greatest attention throughout the week...I have transcended excited into some sort of oxymoronic state like euphoric calm or joyful hysteria....Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

The actual review:

  • I literally cannot tell you how amazing the opening title sequence for Copper is...I beg you to watch it.
  • I love how Corky is all concerned about the whereabouts of his wife...but he has no problem with patronizing Eva's establishment, shall we say. But I love him anyway for some bizarre reason.
  • I'm intrigued by this potential The Irish versus The Freed Slaves thing...
  • Oh, wow, oh, BAM! Corky is so freaking awesome...he just totally owned Mr. Haverford.
  • And he's getting shut down by a nun...oh, this is priceless. I love this show.
  • I'm glad to see Civil War stuff, I think it adds a whole new layer to the show.
  • Hahahahahahaha! Sending them to Hoboken, that was funny...this show has pretty much everything, even humor.
  • I like Matthew and Sarah, I'm glad they don't seem to have less of a role since they moved away.
  • Ooooh, that was a nice one, Mrs. Haverford! This is just such a good show...having literally everything and just the tone and the mood being literally perfection.
  • Okay, who the heck is Tongus McClougherty? Totally have no idea on the spelling there.
  • I love the score for this...so, so wonderful.
  • I don't know why I like Corky so much, since he's so violent...but somehow I can't help but love him.
  • Okay, so Kevin has a lead now...
  • I kind of like Robert Morehouse...I can't quite get a lock on his character, but I'm intrigued.
  • I really don't like this Molly woman...she seems untrustworthy.
  • What the heck does everyone have against the Irish?
  • Inherent nobility? A boxer? A horseman? Oh, I am in love with Corky.
  • Oh, wow, Elizabeth Haverford, you are a badass.
  • Uh-oh, I hope nobody starts beating on Kevin...Oh, no, they have Corky! Oh, shit! No! Not his leg! Oh, wow, what an intense scene! That was great! Poor Corky :( Absolutely epic acting by Tom Weston-Jones.
  • Oh, no...he better be okay...I hate seeing people in pain.
  • Great, McGuire is breaking and entering...Sarah seems a little unbalanced to me.
  • Oh, no, more pain. That does not look good...I really do get a kick out of this mid-19th century medical procedure stuff.
  • Wait, I thought Kate and Annie's father was dead...Oh, he is such a fake. There is no way...
  • Ah, yes, Mrs/ Haverford for the win.
  • Whoa, whoa, whoa, he's her husband??? WHAT?!
  • Aw, Corky's sweet with kids!
  • Oh, come on, Kevin! You're looking for your missing wife, you told Eva she was the only one you wanted, and you just let Molly go for it with you?! Where is the consistency? Why do I still love you?
  • Okay, what the hell is Molly doing? Oh, you greedy bitch! NO! Corky better rescue Annie....somehow.
  • So, why would Robert go out of his way to be the one to give his father the deed? Latent Daddy issues?
  • Oh, my God does that leg look terrible...
  • Oh, come on, Annie, you've got to escape somehow...Oh, this is the creepiest thing ever.
  • Wait, how did Corky get in there? Holy shit, Annie you are a total and complete badass. Holy shit, the Countessa too? Oh, my God...holy shit...I am literally paralyzed with shock.
  • God, Corky must really care about Annie to go through complete agony for her.
  • Aw, this must be Maggie.
  • Jesus, why does every go for the damaged leg? I can't handle this.
  • Elizabeth is going to adopt Annie? That is so sweet!
  • That's ominous...and a sweet moment with hallucination!Maggie...
Phenomenal episode in a phenomenal show...if you are not watching this show you are missing out.

Surviving Death - Copper Season 1 Episode 1 PREMIERE!

*This review contains spoilers.*

Hi! If you're new here, I do reviews of TV shows as I watch them followed by commentary. I've decided to pick up BBC America's Copper because, I mean, BBC has  Doctor Who and Merlin and Sherlock and  all the other good stuff, so this ought to be great, too, right? Besides, it's their first original series and I mean, it's set in the mid-19th century and you know me and anything remotely historical.  Also, they had an article on their blog with "hot pictures" of Tom Weston-Jones, the star, and this video about why women love his character...and I was so sold.

Okay, sorry, babbling, but I'm super excited. The actual review:

  • I am literally giddy with excitement right now...ah, here it comes! :) Whoa...this intro is absolutely wicked. I can already tell that this is one of those shows where I need to watch each episode twice. The music, the imagery, the coloring, absolutely everything about this intro is to die for...oh, BBC America, you never cease to amaze.
  • New York City, 1864...oh, I adore this already...love, love, love, new favorite TV show. I'm assuming this beautiful eyes belongs to our hero...yep, oh, and he just said, "What's your name, darlin'?" Ah, I am so sold on Tom Weston-Jones.
  • ...Um...okay...Annie is a bit...uh...mature...for her age...
  • I love this score...oh, I am in love with this show already. Seriously, tune in, it's on BBC America Sundays at 10 PM.
  • The costumes are really great, and the entire set has a very authentic feel, in my opinion.
  • It seems Detective Corcoran is a proponent of shooting first, questioning later. O.o. I mean, whoa, it's been like five minutes and we're already being bombarded with action? Oh, man, I am beyond thrilled to have started watching this show.
  • And this lovely melody persists through the demonstrations of marksmanship....classic. :)
  • So, he's called Corky? I like it...I also love the corruption angle here.
  • I feel like Corky has some what of a serious rockstar/cowboy vibe going on. And I like it. ;)
  • Oh, yes, a bit of knowledge of Kevin's wife...I remember reading about her on the show's website. Fascinating.
  • Oh, whoa, Annie's dead? Man, this show starts and it just doesn't stop!
  • Oh, so Kevin just came home to an empty house? Oh, that is rough! And still searching? Wow, does this have potential!
  • Oh, wow, this Matthew fellow is amazing at being a coroner! I love stuff like this, only it's so much cooler in a mid-19th century setting than one of the many modern day forensics shows. Wow, Annie seems to have had a very difficult life. Poor child.
  • Oh, wow, no wonder Sara is terrified, that's horrible.
  • Whoa, whoa, there's another Annie?! Twins, perhaps? What an interesting development!
  • Ah, the high society of Mr. Morehouse...that's the third shirtless man we've seen in less than half an hour! Whoa, is this another brothel? How many brothels does one town need?
  • So, Maguire wants to marry Molly...who is a bit too busy working in a brothel.
  • Aw, his poor daughter Maggie!
  • Oh, my God, that Countessa kept Annie as a prostitute? What an evil, conniving....
  • Ah, the imported, English, Elizabeth Haverford...beautiful and smart...oh, please, please, please let there be something between her and Corky...please?
  • Oh, my God, he just beat those guys with brass knuckles! Just like that! With brass knuckles! Oh, wow, that was freaking epic!
  • Matthew is the real deal with this detective stuff.
  • I don't know what to think of Corky...one minute he's being all sweet with injured little girls and the next he is bashing skulls with brass knuckles.
  • Wow, Matthew is good. Really, really good.
  • Oh, dear God, Corky is so...so...ballsy. It was Mr. Haverford! And he just walks out with the wolf's head cane...my God, this man is badass.
  • Uh-oh...asking if he told any reporters? Taking over the case? It seems like they're going to take bribes to keep Haverford's affinity for young girls on the down low.
  • Bill Longin? Kate walked in? Oh, that is such a lie! Oh, they are so just trying to save face!
  • So, Molly wants Kevin? I see...and Annie is at the other brothel? He lied to save her from Haverford?
  • Oh, wow, this worked out surprisingly well for Bill...I like that.
  • Whoa, Mrs. Haverford is taking some serious initiative. I can't imagine what it would be like to find out that you've married a man who does those horrid things. I really, really love the score to this. And Tom Weston-Jones is beautiful.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaah! This is my new favorite show! This is literally perfect...the setting and feel of the show are just so authentic it's (ironically) almost unreal and just the in-your-face action is totally non-stop and the shocks don't ever let up but it's all pervaded by this sweet, melodious tune and a couple performers doing what seem to be traditional Irish ballads and it gives the whole show this ethereal feel. But, the show also feels real...like it doesn't feel contrived...I don't even know how to explain it to you other than to just recommend that you watch it. And then there is all this class tension, between people like us and people like them, as Bill said in the jail cell, and Sara (Matthew's wife) seems genuinely worried about racial violence....this show has so many places to go it is unreal.

The main character, Detective Corcoran, AKA Kevin, AKA Corky is freaking amazing...he is totally badass, but he's got the whole troubled past, tortured soul thing, too, and his missing wife and his bizarre loyalty to only one woman in the brothel, Eve...just his motives and such...we saw him as privy and party to blatant corruption in stealing from the bank robbers, but he was also noticeably angered that Haverford seemed to be getting off scot-free for the murder of Kate. I don't know what to think of him, and I absolutely love that...the fact that Tom Weston-Jones is utterly stunning doesn't hurt, either, of course.

In short, this show is my new obsession, so expect it to consume my waking hours. I cannot wait for next week, and I strongly suggest your peruse its website; they have cool stuff there.

I really hope I will be able to define what I love about this show, so I can tell you something other than it's perfect...but it really is...it just feels right. It has absolutely everything a show should, and, more importantly, it makes me feel and believe and hope and worry and become invested in these characters. It's the first freaking episode and I already care more about Corky and Annie and Maguire than I do about the characters of any of the other shows that I am currently watching.

If you didn't watch this show, I adamantly suggest that you do...it is phenomenally perfect, and my absolutely new favorite show...if someone asked me, "Hey, tell me everything you want a show to be, and we'll make it for you," I couldn't have responded with anything remotely like Copper because it has stuff I didn't even know I wanted, let alone the stuff I didn't know I needed.

Ah, just watch it, I'll try to define its perfection better next time.
